Biography

Gilliard Cordeiro Marinho, known artistically simply as Gilliard, was born in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, on December 17, 1956. Raised in a family with a strong musical inclination, he began singing in childhood and won his first contest at eight years old, standing out on local radio programs. In his teens, he moved to Rio de Janeiro and later to São Paulo in search of opportunities, consolidating his artistic trajectory in the late 1970s by signing with the RGE record label and releasing his first major nationwide hit LP.

Throughout his career, Gilliard established himself as one of the great exponents of romantic and popular Brazilian music, accumulating impressive sales figures with dozens of gold, platinum, and diamond records. Among his greatest successes stand out tracks like "Aquela Nuvem" and the children's hit "A Festa dos Insetos". By traversing different musical strands and winning over audiences on prominent variety shows on Brazilian television, he also received national prominence awards and joined the judging panel of RecordTV's show Canta Comigo.

His initial training and artistic influences dialogue with great names in Brazilian music such as Luiz Gonzaga, Vicente Celestino, Dolores Duran, and Lupicínio Rodrigues, as well as references from Jovem Guarda. With dozens of albums released and decades dedicated to the stage, Gilliard remains active in music, keeping alive the classic romanticism that marked his trajectory before audiences in Brazil and abroad.
