Biography

O Gilsons is a Brazilian MPB musical trio formed in 2018, composed of José Gil, Francisco Gil and João Gil. The group has strong family ties to Brazilian music legend Gilberto Gil, with José being his son and Francisco and João his grandsons. Their ancestry and the revival of Bahian influences deeply mark the trio's artistic identity, which quickly established itself on the national scene.

In 2019, the group released their debut EP titled Várias Queixas, which brought them great visibility and standout tracks such as the reinterpretation of the classic Olodum success, alongside popular songs like "Love Love", "Pra gente acordar" and "Devagarinho". The sound of O Gilsons navigates a rich and diverse mix of rhythms, incorporating elements of samba, rap, funk, afoxé and pop music with electronic touches.

The group's sonority engages with various fundamental references of MPB and Bahian music, interacting with renowned names such as Caetano Veloso, Chico Buarque, Novos Baianos, Jorge Ben, Paralamas do Sucesso, Timbalada and Daniela Mercury. With this, the trio has built a repertoire acclaimed both by radio stations and digital streaming platforms.
