Biography
Gloria Groove, artistic name of Daniel Garcia Felicione Napoleão, is a prominent Brazilian singer, songwriter, actor, drag queen, and voice dubber. Born in São Paulo, she was raised in a humble family environment in Vila Formosa, where she was deeply influenced by soul and black music through her mother's musical background in the church choir and the group Renascer Praise. Before cementing her career as a music star, she worked extensively as a child artist in groups like Galera do Balão, acted in television, and became a prominent figure in the Brazilian dubbing market, lending her voice to various series and movies. Inspired by the culture seen in shows like RuPaul's Drag Race, she adopted the persona of Gloria Groove and relaunched her music career in 2016 with the hit single "Dona".
Her debut album, O Proceder, released in 2017, established her presence by addressing the realities of being a queer and drag artist from the periphery. Over the years, she achieved massive mainstream success with anthems like "Bumbum de Ouro", "Coisa Boa", and collaborations with notable artists such as Léo Santana and Linn da Quebrada. Her artistic style seamlessly blends elements of soul, rap, R&B, funk carioca, and pop music, allowing her to transition fluidly between a masculine rap persona and a feminine queer aesthetic.
As a non-binary artist and a powerful voice for the LGBTQ+ community in Brazil, Gloria Groove utilizes her platform to challenge social norms and advocate for self-acceptance and representation. She has earned widespread acclaim and multiple accolades, cementing her status as a cultural icon through major releases like Lady Leste and Futuro Fluxo, while performing at massive events such as the New Year's Eve celebration in Copacabana alongside artists like Ludmilla, Luísa Sonza, and Jorge Aragão.
