Biography

The Grupo Candeia emerged in the late 1990s in Brasília, the Federal District of Brazil. It is a musical project with deep family and community roots, formed by siblings and close friends. Their most notable work is the album "Sentimento," originally released in November 1996. The group's unique sound lies in its fusion of traditional Brazilian samba, characterized by strong percussion, strings, and choral arrangements, with Christian and devotional messages. Originating from the heart of the Central Plateau, Grupo Candeia represented a rich vein of Brazilian gospel/Christian music in the 1990s, seeking to express faith through genuinely national rhythms, diverging from the pop/rock trends that often dominated churches at the time. The "Sentimento" album features 11 tracks, including the title song, "Salmo 23," "O Cego," "Tudo ou Nada," "Cada Dia," and "Não Permita."
