Biography

Grupo Revelação is a renowned Brazilian pagode musical ensemble, formed in 1994 in the neighborhood of Engenho Novo, in the city of Rio de Janeiro. The group's journey began to gain strong momentum in traditional samba circles and with the support of important figures from the Rio scene, establishing itself on the national stage in the 2000s. The major milestone of their commercial and popular consolidation occurred with the release of the album Ao Vivo no Olimpo, in 2002, which reached the mark of hundreds of thousands of copies sold and earned the sextet expressive certifications, in addition to projecting them into international tours through countries in Europe, the United States, and Japan.

Throughout its history, the ensemble has undergone line-up changes, notably the departure in 2014 of original vocalist and cavaquinho player Xande de Pilares, who led the band for two decades and was succeeded by names such as Almirzinho, Davi Pereira, and later Jonathan Alexandre. Even with the changes in the front line, the group maintained its relevance in the genre with several releases of successful albums and DVDs, such as Velocidade da Luz, Ao Vivo no Morro, and audiovisual projects with the participation of great samba icons like Jorge Aragão, Leci Brandão, and Grupo Fundo de Quintal.

Grupo Revelação's contribution to pagode and Brazilian popular music is marked by the popularization of traditional samba combined with a modern commercial guise that conquered crowds throughout the country. With striking albums through Deckdisc and other record labels, the ensemble remains active, keeping the tradition of Rio's pagode alive and renewing its audience through festive projects like Pagode do Revela and Revela Samba Beach.
