Biography

Grupo Tradição is a renowned Brazilian musical band formed in 1995 in Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul. The group is celebrated for its vibrant fusion of regional and popular rhythms, encompassing vanerão, forró, chamamé, rasqueado, polka, and sertanejo music. Throughout their career, they have achieved notable milestones, including a Latin Grammy nomination in 2009 for Best Native Brazilian Roots Album for their release "Micareta 2 Sertaneja".

The band gained rapid regional prominence after releasing their debut album in 1997, later expanding their reach nationwide with high-energy live albums and television soundtracks. Their successful trajectory includes iconic tracks such as "Barquinho" and "A brasileira", which were featured in Rede Globo's telenovela "América" and the series "Carga pesada". Over the years, Grupo Tradição became a launchpad and collaborator for prominent artists in the Brazilian sertanejo scene, working alongside famous dupex like Edson & Hudson and Bruno & Marrone.

Grupo Tradição is also widely recognized for launching the career of superstar singer Michel Teló, who famously served as the group's lead vocalist and accordionist before embarking on a highly successful solo career. The band's classic instrumental lineup features dual accordions, acoustic and electric guitars, bass, and drums, maintaining a lively performance style that continues to influence contemporary Brazilian country and dance music.
