Biography

Gui Amabis is a Brazilian musician, composer, and musical producer born in São Paulo on October 17, 1976. He began his career in music as an assistant to musician Antônio Pinto, working on the production of soundtracks for film and television, and later on record production. His experience as a producer led him to collaborate with several renowned artists of Brazilian music.

In 2011, Gui Amabis released his first solo album, "Memórias Luso/Africanas", a work that revives his family memories and explores Lusophone-African influences. The album featured guest appearances by various artists such as Céu (to whom he was married), Tulipa Ruiz, Siba, Curumin, Thiago França, Rodrigo Campos, and Criolo. His solo discography also includes "Trabalhos Carnívoros" (2012), "Ruivo em Sangue" (2015), "Miopia" (2018), and "Contrapangeia" (2024), in addition to collaborations on projects like "Sambas do Absurdo" with Rodrigo Campos and Juçara Marçal.

Aside from his solo career, Gui Amabis is recognized for his work as a music producer and composer of soundtracks for films and series, such as "Bruna Surfistinha" and "Cidade dos Homens". His music is characterized by the fusion of MPB elements with electronic influences, samples, and arrangements that create a distinctive and inventive sound, moving between the experimental and the accessible. He was also a member of the group Sonantes, alongside Céu, Rica Amabis, Dengue, and Pupillo.
