Biography

Guilherme Marques is a versatile Brazilian musician, primarily known as a drummer, composer, and music educator. His academic background includes a Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctorate from UNICAMP, where he focused his research on Brazilian music, particularly the work of Airto Moreira and Nenê. This academic pursuit is complemented by his extensive practical experience across various musical genres.

Marques's musical output spans a wide range, including improvised music, MPB (Música Popular Brasileira), Jazz, Pop, and soundtracks for theater and dance. He has collaborated with numerous artists and groups, such as À Deriva, Música de Selvagem, Marques_Rodrigues_Duo, KVAR, Comboio Cia LCT, iN SAiO Cia de Arte, and OlhoMágico. In many of these projects, he also takes on the role of composer, creating original music and improvisational frameworks.

Beyond his performance and composition work, Guilherme Marques is also an active music educator. He teaches at various levels, from beginners to postgraduate students, focusing on drumming and broader musical concepts. His research interests delve into Cultural Studies, with a specific emphasis on the intersection of musical expression and cultural identity.
