Biography

Guilherme Rondon de Barros is a renowned Brazilian singer, songwriter, instrumentalist, and arranger, born in São Paulo in 1952. His childhood and initial musical training took place in Corumbá, in the Pantanal, where he learned piano from his mother. In 1967, he returned to the capital of São Paulo to refine his musical studies, becoming a self-taught acoustic guitar player and later studying at CLAM (Centro Livre de Aprendizagem Musical), a school run by the Zimbo Trio. His career is marked by the fusion of Brazilian regional rhythms with contemporary influences, which earned him national and international recognition.

Throughout his career, Rondon participated in several university festivals, winning two of them with his compositions. Songs written by him have been recorded by more than 70 renowned artists, such as Nana Caymmi, Ivan Lins, Almir Sater, and Sérgio Reis, demonstrating the versatility and reach of his work. He is also known for composing soundtracks for television programs, including "Pesca Brasil" and "TV Colosso", and for his participation in important projects such as "Pantanal: Alerta Brasil".

Guilherme Rondon has released eight CDs, including solo works like "Piratininga" and "Três", as well as collaborations like the album "Rondon & Fígar" with João Fígar. His work "Paiaguás", in partnership with Paulo Simões, won him the Sharp Award for Best Regional Song in 1992. In 2023, he was nominated for a Latin Grammy with the song "Sonho Inca", cementing his position as one of the great names in Brazilian music.
