Biography
Gustavo Barreira Lins was born in the Tijuca neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro on June 3, 1986. Since childhood, he demonstrated a strong artistic inclination, starting to compose and play the electric guitar at age eleven, before also venturing into the acoustic guitar and cavaquinho. At age twelve, he joined the group Demais da Conta, taking the first consistent steps of his career in the universe of pagode and romantic samba.
Nationally acclaimed while still a teenager, he released his debut album in 2003, titled Pra Ser Feliz. The self-titled single written by him exploded on Brazilian radio, remaining among the most played songs in the country for almost a year and earning him the affectionate nickname "Prince of Brazil". With sequential hits like "Máquina do Tempo" and "Deixa Eu Te Querer", the singer soon expanded his discography with live albums and gold DVDs, such as the famous recording at the Via Show concert hall.
Throughout his career, Gustavo Lins established himself not only as a performer, but also as a prolific and renowned songwriter in the national pagode scene. His works were voiced by other great names in Brazilian music, such as Belo and the group Os Travessos, in addition to prominent guest appearances like that of singer Kelly Key. Staying active and reinventing his sound on records like Não é Força é Jeito, he remains one of the prominent figures of 2000s romantic pagode.
