Biography
Harmony Cats emerged in 1976 at Estúdios Reunidos in São Paulo, initially acting as a backing vocal quintet that collaborated with various Brazilian artists. Under the leadership of producer Hélio Costa Manso, the group first adopted the name Bandits of Love, specializing in recording English-language covers of MPB hits and medleys of rock and disco classics, as part of that decade's prominent "Made in Brazil" generation.
In the 1980s, the project consolidated as a trio consisting of Vivian Costa Manso, Maria Amélia, and Sylvia Cremona Marinho, achieving national stardom through frequent appearances on high-rated Brazilian television shows, such as the Silvio Santos program and Cassino do Chacrinha. Featuring elaborate arrangements, high technical quality, and an intense touring schedule across Brazil and abroad, the group made its mark with popular and romantic songs, as well as collaborations with artists such as Gilliard.
Following the end of the group's main activities in 1986, the members pursued different paths in music and dubbing, with stints in projects like Banda Sunday and contributions to notable soundtracks. In 2019, the trio reunited for a special performance on the show Conversa com Bial, celebrating their legacy in national pop and disco music alongside artists like Os Carbonos.
