Biography
Heavy Baile is a carioca funk multimedia collective that emerged in Rio de Janeiro in 2010, initially as a label for remixes and original tracks by Leo Justi. Starting in 2013, in partnership with MC Tchelinho, the project consolidated itself as a party and traveling show, introducing an unprecedented aesthetic approach to funk.
The collective is known for its fusion of carioca funk with electronic music, incorporating elements of hip-hop, kuduro, moombahton, trap, and dubstep. This sound mix, combined with a strong visual identity and energetic performances, has made them a prominent name at major festivals such as Rock in Rio and Lollapalooza. Heavy Baile aims to be a movement of musical and cultural empowerment for the periphery, promoting the convergence of diversities and the appreciation of artists and their cultures.
With collaborations that include names such as Tati Quebra Barraco, Valesca Popozuda, LARINHX, and Slipmami, Heavy Baile also stands out for its social engagement, seeking to include and give visibility to peripheral artists and communities. The project has already released a critically acclaimed debut album, "Carne de Pescoço", and continues to innovate in the Brazilian music scene, maintaining the essence of the baile funk with a contemporary and global guise.
