Biography

Henrique Portugal is a Brazilian producer, instrumentalist, and singer, best known as the keyboardist of the renowned pop-rock band Skank. Born into a musical family in Belo Horizonte, he began playing classical piano at the age of five and formed his first band at seventeen before earning a degree in economics.

In 1991, he achieved national prominence with Skank, contributing to the group's massive success that included millions of records sold across numerous albums and DVDs. Alongside his work with Skank, he has collaborated with major figures of Brazilian popular music such as Gilberto Gil, Herbert Vianna, Frejat, Daniela Mercury, Erasmo Carlos, Lenine, Zeca Baleiro, and the metal band Sepultura.

Beyond his musical career, Portugal is actively involved in technology investments, biotechnology, and journalism, writing columns for the Estado de Minas newspaper. He also formed the electronic-focused audio-visual trio Nie Myer alongside fellow Skank bassist Lelo Zaneti and DJ Anderson Noise.
