Biography

Hervé Cordovil was a renowned Brazilian composer, pianist, and conductor, born in Viçosa on February 3, 1914. Throughout his career, he contributed significantly to Brazilian popular music, crafting memorable melodies and working alongside notable figures of the era such as Luiz Gonzaga. His extensive catalog includes famous compositions that became classics of national culture.

Among his greatest successes are well-known tracks like "Meu Pé de Manacá", written alongside his cousin Marisa Pinto Coelho in 1950, and "Sabiá lá na Gaiola", created in partnership with Mario Vieira. He also demonstrated versatility by adapting international hits into Portuguese, most notably "Biquíni de Bolinha Amarelinha", which was successfully recorded by his son Ronnie Cord alongside other popular songs like "Rua Augusta".

His artistic output extended to collaborations with various iconic interpreters of Brazilian music, including recordings featuring Carmélia Alves and Isaura Garcia. Cordovil passed away in São Paulo on July 16, 1979, leaving behind a rich legacy in the history of Brazilian song composition.
