Biography

Hibria is a Brazilian heavy metal band formed in 1996 in the city of Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul. The group quickly sought international projection, releasing their first demos in the late 1990s and touring Europe even before consolidating their first official studio album. Throughout their career, the band has built a solid reputation on the global metal scene, with a strong reception and recurring tours in Asian countries, especially Japan.

Their debut album, Defying the Rules, released in 2004, opened doors for the group in several international markets and established their signature sound within power metal and traditional heavy metal. Subsequent albums such as The Skull Collectors (2009) and Blind Ride (2011) expanded the band's reach, leading them to participate in major festivals and share the stage with icons of the genre, in addition to opening shows for names like Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne, and Megadeth in Brazil. The group's lineup has undergone several transformations over the years, with guitarist Abel Camargo serving as its constant member and main pillar.

With critically acclaimed albums and notable appearances at events such as the Rock in Rio festival — where they performed alongside projects linked to former Angra members — Hibria has established itself as one of the leading exponents of contemporary Brazilian metal. Maintaining their activity with new albums, such as Me7amorphosis (2022), and frequent international tours, the band continues to renew its sound and lineup, keeping the tradition of Brazilian metal alive abroad.
