Biography

Hojerizah was an influential Brazilian rock band established in 1983 in Rio de Janeiro by musicians Toni Platão, Flávio Murrah, Marcelo Larrosa, and Álvaro Albuquerque. The group quickly became part of the vibrant 1980s Brazilian rock scene, releasing their debut single in 1984 through BB Records and Polygram, which featured the tracks Que Horror and Pros Que Estão em Casa.

Following their early releases, the band solidified their presence by dropping their self-titled debut LP in 1987 under the Plug label of BMG-Ariola, followed shortly by their second studio album, Pele, in 1988. Over the years, the lineup saw contributions from members such as Manolo Kaos Martins, Rogério Vieira, and Paulo Henrique, while core members reunited periodically, notably in 1999 for the release of the compilation album Hot 20.

The band's alternative rock sound and the charismatic delivery of frontman Toni Platão paralleled the trajectories of contemporary acts like Legião Urbana and Paralamas do Sucesso, cementing Hojerizah's legacy within underground Brazilian rock history. Their rare vinyl releases and retrospective collections continue to be celebrated by collectors of 1980s Brazilian music.
