Biography

Hot e Oreia was a prominent Brazilian rap duo formed in Minas Gerais by rappers Mario Apocalypse do Nascimento, known as Hot, and Gustavo Rafael Aguiar, known as Oreia. Emerging from local cultural initiatives such as Sarau Vira-Lata and Duelo de MCs in Belo Horizonte, the duo quickly established themselves as a significant force in the national hip-hop scene. Their musical style blended electronic beats with theatrical, tragicomic lyricism and fluid vocal deliveries, setting them apart within contemporary Brazilian rap.

Throughout their career, the duo collaborated with several notable artists, including Coyote Beatz, Luedji Luna, Djonga, and Marina Sena. Their acclaimed 2019 debut album, Rap de Massagem, featured major collaborations and yielded the hit track "Eu Vou" with Djonga, whose music video won the Best National Music Video category at the Music Video Festival. Despite their rising success and international recognition, the partnership came to an end in January 2021 following public controversies involving Hot, leading Oreia to pursue a solo career.

Although the duo is no longer active, their impact on the Minas Gerais underground and national rap scenes remains influential. Artists such as Djonga and Luedji Luna share thematic and stylistic parallels with the innovative sounds pioneered by Hot and Oreia during their active years. Their theatrical approach to hip-hop continues to resonate within the broader spectrum of Brazilian music.
