Biography

Hotel Básico is the electronic music project of Fê Lemos, a prominent figure in Brazilian rock music. Lemos is widely recognized as the drummer and a founding member of the seminal punk band Aborto Elétrico and the highly successful rock band Capital Inicial. His exploration into electronic music began in the 1990s, driven by a desire to experiment with beats and textures beyond the commercial pop-rock sound. This artistic restlessness, combined with new technologies, led to the creation of Hotel Básico.

The project's debut album, also titled "Hotel Básico," was released in 2005. It showcased a fusion of electronic elements with critical and humorous lyrics, reflecting a postmodern sensibility with blurred genre boundaries. The music often incorporates synthesizers and electronic beats, creating a soundscape that is both innovative and engaging. Hotel Básico's work is characterized by its unique blend of sophisticated production and a raw, critical perspective on society.

In recent years, Hotel Básico has collaborated with singer and guitarist Mel Ravasio, further expanding its sonic palette. Their joint work, such as the single "Quanto Mais Eu Vejo," released in 2021, blends pop-rock influences with house music rhythms. This collaboration highlights Lemos's continuous evolution as an artist and his commitment to exploring new musical territories within the Brazilian music scene.
