Biography

Humanish is a Brazilian rock band formed by musicians with a shared history in the independent music scene of Paraná, including members who were part of the well-known "A Banda Mais Bonita da Cidade". The band's sound is characterized by a contemporary pop-rock style, infused with refined textures, melodies, distortion, and a sophisticated groove and swing. They skillfully blend these elements with influences from both Brazilian and universal music, creating a unique sonic identity.

The group's debut album, also titled "Humanish," was released in 2011 and produced by Carlos Trilha. This self-titled record explored a rich tapestry of sounds, drawing from 70s rock, the grittier riffs of bands like Queens of the Stone Age, and the modern alternative rock scene, while also incorporating echoes of Brazilian rock from the 80s and early 90s, such as Legião Urbana and Barão Vermelho. Notably, Humanish often forgoes the traditional bass guitar, instead utilizing baritone guitars and distinct tunings to achieve their deep, resonant low-end frequencies, complemented by synthesizers and saxophones.

Over the years, Humanish has evolved, with lineup changes and the release of subsequent EPs like "Benim" and "Brasil," preceding their second album, "Losna." They have performed at festivals such as Lupaluna, sharing stages with prominent Brazilian artists like Céu and Lenine. The band's commitment to their artistic vision and their ability to fuse diverse musical influences have solidified their place in the Brazilian independent music landscape.
