Biography

Hyldon de Souza Silva, artistically known as Hyldon, was born in Salvador on April 17, 1951, establishing himself as one of the great names in soul and black music in Brazil. Throughout a prolific career that began in his teens, he stood out not only as a singer and songwriter, but also as a talented guitarist, bassist, and music producer.

The major milestone of his career occurred in the 1970s, driven by the massive success of his debut album, which featured the timeless classic "Na Rua, na Chuva, na Fazenda (Casinha de Sapê)". Alongside exponents like Tim Maia and Cassiano, Hyldon helped shape the course of national soul music, naturally transitioning through sophisticated arrangements and notable partnerships with names like Caetano Veloso and Edu Lobo.

Even while facing setbacks with record labels and commercial fluctuations in the following decades, he remained active and eventually experienced an expressive rediscovery starting in the 2000s. His songs gained new momentum by being included in the soundtracks of prominent film productions, cementing his legacy and ensuring the admiration of new generations of listeners and Brazilian artists.
