Biography

Inquérito is a prominent Brazilian rap group formed in 1999 in Nova Odessa, in the state of São Paulo. Founded by frontman Renan Inquérito alongside DJ Rodrigo, Nicole, and Pop Black, the group quickly established themselves within the regional hip-hop scene before expanding their reach nationwide. Their music blends socially conscious lyricism with diverse musical collaborations, marking their presence as a vital force in contemporary Brazilian rap.

Over the years, Inquérito has released several acclaimed albums, beginning with their 2005 debut "Mais Loco que u Barato," which featured guest appearances by Sistema Negro and Realidade Cruel, and earned them recognition at the Prêmio Hutúz with the hit track "Dia dos Pais." Subsequent releases, including "Um Segundo é Pouco." in 2008 and later works like "Tungstênio" in 2018, further solidified their reputation. The latter album showcased an eclectic mix of musical styles through collaborations with notable artists such as Zeca Baleiro, Tulipa Ruiz, and Rashid.

The group has undergone several lineup changes while maintaining its core creative vision under Renan Inquérito. Their ability to fuse traditional hip-hop beats with poetic sensibilities—influenced by figures like poet Sérgio Vaz—has allowed them to collaborate with a wide array of international and domestic musicians.
