Biography

Insulter is a Brazilian extreme metal band formed in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, in 1986. It is considered one of the pioneers of the Brazilian metal scene, sharing its musical birthplace with other iconic bands like Sepultura and Sarcófago. Throughout its history, the band has gone through several line-ups, featuring in its early years notable musicians such as D.D. Crazy and Pussy Ripper, both of whom had stints with Sarcófago and Sextrash.

The band returned to activities in 2012, after a hiatus, and has since performed concerts both in Brazil and abroad. The current line-up features Reinaldo Resan on vocals and guitars, and Claudio Freitas on bass and backing vocals. In 2021, 35 years after its formation and nine years in the making, Insulter released its long-awaited debut album, "Insane", a conceptual work whose lyrics explore the traumas, fears, and worldviews of a self-titled character.

Insulter's sound is characterized by extreme metal with influences from black metal and thrash metal, reminiscent of the roots of Minas Gerais metal. The album "Insane" features a raw and aggressive sound, with references to bands like Bathory, Celtic Frost, Motörhead, and Venom, and addresses themes such as social injustices and conflicts. The band is recognized for its contribution to the development of Brazilian deathcore and for maintaining the essence of underground metal.
