Biography

Ira! is a prominent Brazilian rock band formed in São Paulo in 1981, heavily influenced by punk rock and classic rock artists like Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix. The group's founding core included vocalist Nasi and guitarist Edgard Scandurra, who emerged from the underground punk scene of the late 1970s. Over the decades, Ira! became synonymous with Brazilian national rock, releasing influential albums such as Mudança de Comportamento, Vivendo e Não Aprendendo, and Psicoacústica, while cementing classic anthems like "Envelheço na Cidade" and "Flores em Você".

Throughout their career, the band underwent several lineup shifts, artistic evolutions, and temporary hiatuses, including a bitter split in 2007 that halted activities for seven years. During this period, members pursued various solo projects and collaborations with notable artists like Arnaldo Antunes, before Nasi and Scandurra reconciled and officially brought the band back to stages in 2014. Their enduring legacy includes memorable performances at events like Rock in Rio and MTV Unplugged sessions, collaborating with major national acts such as Os Paralamas do Sucesso and Pitty.

Today, Ira! remains an essential pillar of Brazilian rock history, celebrated for their raw energy, melodic sensibility, and uncompromising artistic integrity. The band's discography spans numerous studio albums, live releases, and acoustic interpretations, preserving their status as icons of the genre. Their continuous activity and profound influence on younger generations of musicians ensure their lasting impact on the cultural landscape of Brazil.
