Biography

Iracema Werneck is a Brazilian singer who began her musical career at the age of 11, singing at family parties and school events. Her artistic trajectory gained momentum in her adolescence when she met composers Antonio Adolfo and Tibério Gaspar, and began performing at "Musicanossa," an important meeting point for musical talents in Rio de Janeiro. During this period, she shared the stage with names such as Márcia, Dom Salvador, Mariá, Marcos and Paulo Sérgio Valle, Milton Nascimento, Johnny Alf, Toninho Horta, Paulinho Tapajós, Edmundo Souto, Roberto Menescal, Paulo Moura, Tito Madi, Durval Ferreira, Antonio Adolfo, and Tibério Gaspar, consolidating her presence in the Brazilian music scene.

She participated in important music festivals, such as the International Song Festival (FIC) in 1967 and 1968, where she presented songs like "Caminhada" and "Despertar." In 1968, at the University Festival of Porto Alegre, she won second place with the song "Canto pra dizer-te adeus" and the Best Performer award. Her performance led to a two-and-a-half-year contract with TV Tupi, following her participation in the show "A grande chance."

In 1971, Iracema Werneck worked as a host and singer on a live program on Rádio Carioca, welcoming guests such as Agostinho dos Santos, Sivuca, and Guinga. In the same year, she entered college for Psychology, a profession she practiced alongside music. She resumed her artistic career in 1985, performing in bars and, later, settling in Conservatória, where she continues to perform in shows, accompanied by local acoustic guitarists. Her career demonstrates a rich trajectory in Brazilian popular music, with participations in festivals, radio and television programs, and a continuous presence in the musical scene.
