Biography

Ithaka Darin Pappas, known simply as Ithaka, is an American multidisciplinary artist, musician, and surfer of Greek descent who has maintained significant ties to the Brazilian music and art scenes. Throughout his multifaceted career, he has explored hip hop, spoken word, and visual arts, establishing residences and creative projects in multiple countries including Brazil. His deep engagement with Brazilian culture is reflected through artistic exhibitions and musical collaborations with notable figures in the country.

In 2004, Ithaka expanded his footprint in Brazilian music by recording the track "Who's The Enemy?" alongside prominent rapper Gabriel o Pensador. This collaboration also featured special guitar work by Liminha, a legendary member of the influential tropicalia group Os Mutantes. The track was captured during sessions for the album Recorded In Rio, cementing Ithaka's collaborative presence within the South American nation's contemporary music landscape.

Beyond his musical output, Ithaka has exhibited his visual art extensively in Brazil, including notable solo and group shows in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. His exhibitions at venues such as Gallery Alma Do Mar in Vila Madalena and Nike Posto 5.0 showcased his unique sculptures created from recycled surfboards, a long-running conceptual art project known as The Reincarnation Of A Surfboard.
