Biography

Born in Juazeiro, in the interior of Bahia, Ivete Sangalo began her musical journey at family soirées and bars in Salvador before achieving national stardom in the 1990s. She gained prominence as the lead singer of Banda Eva, a group that helped define the sound of contemporary axé and with which she sold millions of records. Under the sponsorship of Xuxa Meneghel, Ivete saw her career cross the borders of the Northeast, becoming one of the most charismatic figures in Brazilian culture.

In 1999, the artist launched a victorious solo career, diversifying her repertoire beyond Carnival by incorporating elements of pop, MPB, funk, and romantic ballads. Hits like "Festa", "Sorte Grande", and "Se Eu Não Te Amasse Tanto Assim" consolidated her position at the top of the Brazilian charts. Her stage presence is marked by grand performances in stadiums, including historic recordings at the Maracanã and Madison Square Garden in New York.

Beyond music, Ivete established herself as an influential television host and actress. Throughout her career, she has collaborated with icons like Gilberto Gil and Caetano Veloso, with whom she recorded a special project. With decades of career behind her, she continues to reinvent herself, reaching the top of the digital charts with recent successes like "Macetando", reaffirming her title as one of the country's top-selling artists of records and DVDs.
