Biography

Ivor Lancellotti, born in Rio de Janeiro on March 30, 1945, is a prominent Brazilian singer and songwriter known for his rich contributions to MPB. His early talent as a composer was highlighted when his song "Estrada" was performed by Marisa Gata Mansa at the TV Tupi University Festival. It took several years before he stepped onto the stage for his official debut concert, titled "Encontro de Amor," performing alongside Marisa at the Teatro da Galeria in Rio de Janeiro. Throughout his career, Lancellotti established himself as a master craftsman of melody and lyrics, eventually branching out into his own recording projects.

As a recording artist, Lancellotti released his debut album "Cantador de Rua" in 1986, followed by a self-titled long play in 1990. He continued to share his musical legacy with the release of another self-titled album in 2000 featuring celebrated compositions like "Amor alheio," written with Paulo César Pinheiro, and "História renovada," co-written with Sérgio Natureza. In 2015, he released the album "Tudo o que eu quis" through Dubas and Universal, which featured musical contributions from his sons Alvinho and Domenico. His work has consistently resonated across generations, even finding a prominent place in the soundtracks of telenovelas on Rede Globo and TV Manchete.

Lancellotti's compositions have achieved widespread acclaim and have been recorded by some of the most legendary figures in Brazilian music. Icons such as Roberto Carlos, Clara Nunes, Beth Carvalho, João Nogueira, and Alcione have all lent their voices to his timeless songs. His remarkable catalogue of recorded works also includes interpretations by Elizeth Cardoso, Nana Caymmi, Cauby Peixoto, and Ângela Maria, cementing his enduring legacy within the vibrant landscape of Brazilian popular music.
