José Clementino de Azevedo Neto, known professionally as J. Neto, is a prominent Brazilian singer and songwriter within the contemporary Christian music scene. Born in Parelhas in 1960, his early life was marked by extreme hardship and resilience, working various odd jobs including circus trapeze artist and construction painter before finding his true calling in music. A profound personal turning point occurred in 1981 when he overcame severe depression, a pivotal moment that heavily shaped his spiritual and personal journey.

He officially launched his musical career in 1985 with the release of his debut album, Água Viva. From the very beginning, J. Neto captivated audiences with a vocal timbre remarkably similar to that of legendary Brazilian artist Roberto Carlos, often astonishing first-time listeners. Over the decades, he established himself as a cornerstone of Brazilian gospel music, earning multiple certifications from the Brazilian Association of Record Producers, including two Gold records and a Platinum record.

Beyond the strictly religious sphere, his rich vocal delivery and compelling melodies crossed over into mainstream television, with songs like “Último Romântico” featured in soap operas on Record TV.
