Jaime Ernest Dias is a Brazilian guitarist, composer, and arranger born on June 24, 1957, in Rio de Janeiro, RJ. He comes from a family of musicians, with his mother being the renowned flutist Odette Ernest Dias. This musical upbringing provided him with a rich environment to nurture his talents from an early age. Dias graduated in Music from the University of Brasília and began his teaching career at the Brasília School of Music in 1979.
He was a co-founder of the Clube do Choro de Brasília (Brasília Choro Club) in 1975, an institution that has played a significant role in promoting choro music. Throughout his career, Dias has been part of several musical groups, including Corda Solta, Instrumental e Tal, Trio Artesanal, and the Orquestra de Cordas Brasileiras. With the latter, he won the "Sharp Award" for best group and best instrumental music album in 1989.
