Biography
Jaime da Rocha Vogeler, known artistically as Jaime Vogeler, was born in Rio de Janeiro on May 11, 1906. Inheriting the musical talent of his family, which included the composer Henrique Vogeler and the designer Jorge Vogeler, Jaime began his artistic career in 1929, recording the waltz "O pagão (Canção de amor)" for Parlophon. Throughout his trajectory, he stood out as a singer and songwriter, interpreting sambas, marches, and romantic songs, and made several recordings with labels such as Victor, Odeon, and Columbia.
His musical career spanned the 1930s, with notable recordings in a duo with Murilo Caldas, such as the sambas "Já fui rei" and "Deixo saudades" in 1931. The following year, for Columbia, he interpreted sambas like "Você me conhece" and "Sou carioca", in addition to the march "Tenentes do diabo", the latter featuring the Fanfarra dos Tenentes. Vogeler also had his work recorded by other artists, such as the samba "Escuta aqui", by Valfrido Silva, recorded by him in 1933.
Jaime Vogeler actively participated in the musical scene of his time, collaborating with various composers and serving as a reference in recordings of sambas and marches. His discography includes over 80 recordings, evidencing his productivity and popularity. He is also cited as a musical partner of Getúlio Marinho and as an interpreter of works by other artists, solidifying his name in the history of Brazilian popular music.
