Biography

Jair Mello Rodrigues de Oliveira, known professionally as Jair Oliveira, is a prominent Brazilian singer, songwriter, and music producer born in São Paulo. He comes from a celebrated musical family, being the son of the legendary singer Jair Rodrigues and the brother of singer Luciana Mello. He first rose to national prominence during his childhood in the 1980s as a member of the immensely popular children's musical group A Turma do Balão Mágico, later continuing a successful musical partnership with Simony before moving to the United States to study at the Berklee College of Music.

Upon returning to Brazil, Jair Oliveira played a pivotal role in an innovative musical movement alongside other children of Brazilian music icons, including João Marcelo Bôscoli, Pedro Mariano, Max de Castro, and Wilson Simoninha. Embracing Brazilian popular music, he launched his solo career with the album Dis'ritmia under the name Jairzinho Oliveira, eventually transitioning to his birth name for subsequent acclaimed releases such as Outro, Simples, and the Latin Grammy-nominated album Selfie. In addition to his prolific recording career, he co-founded the S de Samba label and expanded his artistic footprint into film and children's music projects like Grandes Pequeninos.
