Biography

Jammil e Uma Noites, popularly known as Jammil, is a Brazilian axé musical group formed in 1994 in the city of Salvador, Bahia. Originally named Jheremmias Não Bate Córner, the band adopted its current name in 1997 when signing with the record label EMI, blending axé sounds with samba-reggae and influences from pop and reggae.

Throughout its history, the group has gone through different lead vocalist lineups. Tuca Fernandes fronted the band in its initial phase until 2011, landing memorable hits such as "Praieiro" and "Ê, Saudade". Afterward, Levi Lima took over the position between 2011 and 2020, a period during which the group continued to place tracks on Rede Globo telenovela soundtracks, such as "Celebrar". Since 2020, singer and multi-instrumentalist Rafael Barreto has taken over the vocals, keeping Bahia's characteristic energy alive.

Jammil's discography includes several studio albums and highly acclaimed live recordings, such as the 2001 "Acústico ao Vivo" and the 2005 "Praieiro ao Vivo". The group has collaborated with various exponents of national music, including names like Jorge Ben Jor, Tim Maia, Tomate, and Saulo Fernandes, establishing itself as one of the major names in the Bahian music scene.
