Biography

Janduhy Finizola was a Brazilian physician, writer, and composer born in Jardim do Seridó. After completing his medical studies at the Federal University of Pernambuco in Recife in 1957, he eventually settled in Caruaru in 1960 to practice medicine, while simultaneously launching his career as a musical composer.

Throughout his career, his compositions were recorded by prominent interpreters of regional Brazilian music, including Luiz Gonzaga, Dominguinhos, and Quinteto Violado. His most celebrated musical achievement is the soundtrack for the famous "Missa do Vaqueiro", created at the direct request of Luiz Gonzaga, who affectionately nicknamed him the "Doctor of Forró" in recognition of his significant contributions to the genre.

In addition to his musical endeavors, Finizola maintained a robust literary output, publishing several books of poetry such as Oficina de infinitos and Sementes. His multifaceted cultural and professional contributions were recognized widely, including the honorary title of citizen of Pernambuco awarded in 2013, solidifying his legacy within the northeastern artistic community.
