Biography

Jayme Vignoli is a highly respected cavaquinho player, arranger, composer, and music producer born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on March 13, 1967. He began his musical journey at the age of thirteen and turned professional at seventeen, quickly establishing himself in various popular music groups across Brazil and internationally. Vignoli holds a degree in Composition from the Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UniRio) and also completed a master's degree in Music Education there.

Throughout his career, Vignoli has been a key member of several acclaimed musical ensembles. He was part of the Orquestra de Cordas Brasileiras, which received two Sharp Music Awards, and is a long-standing member of Água de Moringa, another group recognized with the Sharp Award for best instrumental group. His collaborations extend to numerous other projects, including the Fuleira Orchestra, Orquestra Portátil, Caldereta Carioca, and Orquestra Típica Flor do Sereno, showcasing his versatility and deep engagement with Brazilian musical traditions.

Vignoli's influence also extends to music education, where he has been a dedicated teacher since 2003 at institutions like Escola Portátil de Música and Instituto Casa do Choro in Rio de Janeiro. He has conducted workshops and taught at numerous music festivals and institutions both in Brazil and abroad, sharing his expertise in cavaquinho, arrangement, and choro. His compositional work has been recorded by various notable Brazilian artists, and his arrangements have graced the performances of both Brazilian and international musicians, solidifying his position as a significant figure in contemporary Brazilian music.
