Biography

Jazz 6 is a Brazilian musical group formed in 1995 in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul. The band is known for blending the jazz style with Brazilian rhythms, creating a unique sound that appeals to both jazz enthusiasts and fans of Brazilian music. The group stands out for its improvisation and fluidity in live performances, which frequently include international jazz and bossa nova classics.

The original and best-known lineup of Jazz 6 features writer Luis Fernando Verissimo on alto sax, Jorge Gerhardt on double bass, Adão Pinheiro on piano and keyboard, Luiz Fernando Rocha on trumpet and flugelhorn, and Edison Espíndola on drums. Despite his literary prominence, Verissimo is passionate about jazz and contributes significantly to the band's musical identity, which he himself describes as "the smallest sextet in the world" for having only five members.

Throughout its career, Jazz 6 has released several albums, such as "Agora é a Hora" (1997), "Speak Low" (2000), "A Bossa do Jazz" (2003), and "Four" (2006), in addition to "Nas Nuvens". The band has performed in various cities across Brazil, adapting its schedule to the commitments of Luis Fernando Verissimo, who balances his literary career with his passion for music.
