Biography

Jennifer Souza is a Brazilian singer, songwriter, instrumentalist, and producer born in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, in 1982. With a musical career spanning over 20 years, she stands out both in her solo work and as a member of the group Moons. Her musical journey began early, at the age of nine, when she started playing the acoustic guitar, improving her skills on the instrument the following year.

Her career gained momentum around 17 and 18 years of age, with the formation of her first band and participation in various musical collectives. In 2003, she released her first EP as a member of the indie rock band Cinza. Later, she was a key figure in the formation of the group Transmissor, which released three albums between 2009 and 2014 and gained recognition in the national independent scene. In parallel, Souza explored a more intimate side with her solo debut album, "Impossível Breve", released in 2013.

Her solo work is marked by a sound that moves between Brazilian song, jazz, folk, and indie rock, with influences reminiscent of Clube da Esquina. The album "Pacífica Pedra Branca", from 2021, was critically acclaimed and nominated in several best-of-the-year lists, such as those by APCA and the Popload website. Souza is also the creator of Mostra Cantautores, an important event for the singer-songwriter scene in Minas Gerais. In her productions, she has collaborated with artists such as Tiganá Santana, Fabio Góes, and Luiz Gabriel Lopes.
