Biography

Jessé Florentino Santos, known artistically as Jessé, was born in Niterói on April 25, 1952. A singer, songwriter, and musician with a striking voice, he began his artistic journey in Brasília, singing at dances and joining bands such as Placa Luminosa, in addition to adopting pseudonyms to record in English in the 1970s.

National recognition came in the 1980s, especially after winning the MPB Shell Festival as best interpreter with the classic "Porto Solidão", composed by Zeca Bahia and Ginko. Throughout his career, Jessé stood out for interpreting major hits and participating in international festivals, such as the OTI Festival, leaving remarkable albums and collaborating with various names in Brazilian music, such as Reginaldo Veloso and Daniel Salinas.

In the 1990s, following disagreements with commercial record labels, he founded his own label to maintain his artistic freedom and released works focused on his musical roots. His trajectory was tragically interrupted on March 29, 1993, when he passed away as a result of a car accident in Ourinhos, leaving an undeniable legacy in the country's popular music.
