Biography

João Alexandre Silveira was born in Campinas, São Paulo, on September 29, 1964, becoming involved early on in the Christian Brazilian popular music scene as a singer, songwriter, arranger, and producer. Influenced by the Vencedores por Cristo movement and figures such as Sergio Pimenta, he began his artistic journey by forming Grupo Pescador in 1982, with whom he recorded the album Contraste. Later, he spent two years as a member of Ministério de Louvor e Adoração (MILAD), a group with which he traveled throughout Brazil evangelizing through song.

With the birth of his son and the end of his time with MILAD, he began working as an independent artist and established musical partnerships with his wife, Tirza Silveira, and his son, Felipe Silveira. Starting with notable works such as the album Voz e Violão, he fully took over the production and arrangements of his work, standing out in the national gospel scene. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with several prominent artists in Brazilian Christian music, such as Guilherme Kerr and Jorge Camargo, establishing himself as a benchmark in musical arrangements and production.

His musical work is characterized by a strong Brazilian identity, incorporating elements of genres such as samba, bossa nova, seresta, and roots music, alongside jazz influences. His compositions balance poetry, nostalgia, and the conviction of his Christian faith, earning him critical acclaim and awards such as the Troféu Talento. João Alexandre remains active as one of the most respected names in the contemporary and roots branch of Christian music in Brazil.
