Biography

Joao Carreiro & Capataz was a Brazilian sertaneja music duo formed by friends João Sérgio Batista Corrêa Filho and Hilton Cesar Serafim da Silva, both originally from Cuiabá. Inspired by the legendary traditional folk duo Tião Carreiro & Pardinho, the pair gained regional prominence before achieving national success with hit songs like "Bruto, Rústico e Sistemático", which was featured in the soundtrack of the Rede Globo telenovela Paraíso.

After years of releasing popular albums and building a loyal following across Brazil, the duo faced a hiatus due to João Carreiro's health struggles, ultimately leading to their permanent breakup in 2014. Following the split, João Carreiro pursued solo projects and partnerships, such as his collaboration with Jads & Jadson on the album Brutos de Verdade, while Capataz formed a new musical partnership. Tragically, João Carreiro passed away in January 2024 due to complications from heart surgery.
