Biography

João Ricardo is a singer, composer, and lyricist born in Portugal and based in Brazil, widely known as the founder of the iconic band Secos & Molhados. Moving to Brazil in the 1960s, he immersed himself in the cultural vibrancy of the era, having contact with journalism and theater before conceiving the musical project that would revolutionize the national scene alongside artists like Ney Matogrosso and Gérson Conrad.

With Secos & Molhados, João Ricardo led one of the greatest commercial and artistic phenomena of Brazilian popular music in the 1970s, marked by an innovative visual aesthetic and a unique sound that mixed poetry, rock, and MPB. In addition to his work with the band, the musician pursued a solo career exploring different strands of rock and song, releasing albums like Da Boca pra Fora and Musicar.

Throughout his career, he collaborated with several important names in Brazilian culture and consolidated a lasting legacy in the country's music. His work continues to be a fundamental reference for understanding Brazilian counterculture and sound experimentation.
