Biography
João Senise was born in Rio de Janeiro on January 5, 1989. Growing up in a deeply musical environment as the son of saxophonist Mauro Senise and stepson of pianist and arranger Gilson Peranzzetta, he began formal music studies at a very young age, taking piano and vocal training. Before launching his professional recording career, he sang in children's choirs and gained early studio experience collaborating with Peranzzetta on archival projects.
His recording career took off in 2013 with the release of his debut album, Just in Time, which focused on jazz standards and featured guest appearances by major figures such as Ivan Lins. Building upon this early success, Senise established a reputation for themed tribute albums and stylistic fusions, releasing notable records like Abre Alas - Canções de Ivan Lins, Influência do Jazz, and a live tribute celebrating the centennial of Frank Sinatra. His subsequent projects explored classic jazz ballads, soul music standards popularized by Tim Maia, and digital EPs of pop covers.
Throughout his discography, Senise has consistently collaborated with prominent figures of Brazilian popular music and jazz, including Leny Andrade, Edu Lobo, and Leila Pinheiro. His musical style bridges the gap between traditional American jazz standards, bossa nova, and MPB. As both a vocalist and conceptual interpreter, he has maintained a steady presence in the contemporary Brazilian jazz scene through his intricate albums and live performances.
