Biography
João Clemente Jorge Trinta, better known as Joãosinho Trinta, was a renowned visual artist and one of the greatest carnival designers in the history of Brazilian carnival. Born in São Luís, he moved to Rio de Janeiro in the 1950s, where he initially dedicated himself to classical ballet, joining the Municipal Theatre Ballet Company and participating in opera productions such as Il Guarany by Carlos Gomes. His journey in the carnival began at Salgueiro, where he initially worked as a security guard before standing out alongside names like Fernando Pamplona and Maria Augusta, later taking over the creation of memorable parades.
His definitive consecration took place at the Beija-Flor de Nilópolis samba school, an association he transformed through an aesthetic marked by luxury, grandeur, and provocative plots. Among his most celebrated works at the school is the 1989 parade with the plot "Rats and Vultures, Leave My Costume Alone", which generated great repercussion when trying to bring an image of Christ the Redeemer portrayed as a beggar to the Marquês de Sapucaí Avenue. Later, he transferred to Unidos do Viradouro, winning the 1997 championship with a striking plot about the origin and explosion of the universe, consolidating his unmatched legacy in the Rio de Janeiro festivities.
