Biography

Jorge Luiz Sant'anna Vercillo is a renowned Brazilian singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist with a career spanning over three decades. Born in Rio de Janeiro, he initially pursued football before a cassette tape of music by Djavan inspired him to transition to songwriting and performing at the age of sixteen. Over the years, Vercillo has established himself as one of the prominent figures in MPB, earning a diamond disc and multiple Latin Grammy wins and nominations.

He holds a prominent record for having numerous songs featured as telenovela themes on TV Globo, cementing his status as a hitmaker with widespread success in the adult contemporary and popular radio segments. Landmark albums such as Leve, Elo, and Livre produced widespread chart-toppers like "Final Feliz" (recorded in a duo with Djavan), "Que Nem Maré," and "Monalisa." His distinct musical style often incorporates fusions of world music and thoughtful lyricism, collaborating with celebrated artists across the Brazilian music scene including Ana Carolina, Maria Bethânia, Caetano Veloso, and Jorge Aragão.
