Biography

José Garcia was a Brazilian singer and composer who emerged in the music scene during the 1950s. He recorded for labels such as Columbia, Sinter, and Mocambo, releasing singles that featured romantic themes, particularly boleros. Despite his efforts, his career had a modest impact and began to decline as musical trends evolved in the 1960s.

Garcia's musical output included compositions like "Cansaço" and "Oye Me Mama," the latter being a cha-cha-cha he translated. In 1963, his song "Eu preciso de você," co-written with Jorge Martins, was recorded by Gilberto Alves. However, as the music landscape shifted, Garcia gradually moved away from his artistic career.

His career, though not achieving widespread fame, represents a segment of Brazilian popular music from the mid-20th century. The Dicionário Cravo Albin notes his presence in the music industry during a period of transition, before he ultimately stepped away from public performance and recording.
