Biography
Jotapê, artistic name of João Pedro, is a Brazilian rapper and songwriter who stands out as one of the main voices of the new generation of national rap, especially in the rhyme battle circuit. Born in Guarulhos in 2003, he began his artistic journey very early, influenced by his father, who is a big fan of hip hop. By the age of eight, he was already following battles on YouTube, with Emicida as one of his first references and inspirations in the genre.
Encouraged by his family, the young MC began practicing freestyle at school parties and year-end gatherings. At 14, he debuted at the Batalha da Matriz in his hometown and became the champion, a milestone that boosted his career in improvised competitions. Over the years, he expanded his presence to important stages across the country, participating in renowned events such as Batalha da Aldeia in São Paulo, Batalha dos Amigos in Brasília, and Batalha do Coliseu in Rio de Janeiro.
Beyond the improvisation arenas, Jotapê built a discography with releases such as the albums "Onipresente" (2020) and "Até a última rima" (2025), in addition to collaborating with various names from the national scene like Jaya Luuck, Mc Sid, Tavin, and Ecologyk. Consolidated in the digital and live scene, he has accumulated millions of followers and billions of views on clips of his battles, receiving prominent awards such as BDA MVP and consolidating a versatile style marked by a strong stage presence and direct punchlines.
