Joyce & Banda Maluca emerged as a collaborative project, primarily featuring the renowned Brazilian vocalist Joyce Moreno. The ensemble's most notable work, the album "Just a Little Bit Crazy" (released in Brazil as "Banda Maluca" in 2004), showcases a sophisticated fusion of Brazilian rhythms with contemporary jazz and electronic elements. This project highlighted Joyce's innovative approach to MPB, incorporating diverse regional styles like xote, maracatu, and forró, alongside her signature samba and bossa nova.

The "Banda Maluca" project was particularly distinguished by the participation of Norwegian keyboardist Bugge Wesseltoft, a key figure in European nu-jazz. His contributions, along with those of other talented musicians such as Nailor Proveta on reeds and Teco Cardoso on flutes, created a rich sonic tapestry.
