Biography

Ju Moraes, born Juliana de Almeida Moraes in Salvador, Bahia, is a prominent Brazilian singer whose musical journey began in her childhood. By the age of ten, she performed at a school event in Berimbau, and as an eighteen-year-old, she was already singing in venues across Salvador. Although she graduated with a degree in law in 2009 and passed the bar exam, she ultimately chose to pursue her passion for music over a legal career.

Her national breakthrough came in 2012 when she competed in the inaugural season of the reality television show The Voice Brasil as a member of Claudia Leitte's team, reaching the grand finale. Following her time on the show, she transitioned from her previous group Samba D'Ju to establish a successful solo career. Throughout her journey, she has shared the stage with major artists such as Ivete Sangalo and Saulo Fernandes, showcasing her versatile musicianship on acoustic guitar, ukulele, and tambourine.

In late 2013, she signed with Universal Music, subsequently releasing projects including her 2014 DVD Em Cada Canto Um Samba and the 2019 EP Samba, Reggae e Outras Vibes. Continuing to innovate within the Brazilian music scene, she joined the all-female samba collective Sambaiana in 2021. Her vibrant style resonates deeply with fans of MPB and samba, positioning her alongside contemporaries like Ellen Oléria.
