Biography

Juliana Kehl is a Brazilian singer, songwriter, and cultural producer born in São Paulo, SP, on February 14, 1977. She is also a visual artist, having graduated in Plastic Arts from FAAP. Kehl's musical journey began in her adolescence when she performed with a choir at Carnegie Hall. However, she initially pursued visual arts, only returning to music later in life. Her musical career gained momentum when she set to music "Sagitário," a poem by her sister, the renowned psychoanalyst and writer Maria Rita Kehl. This experience inspired her to write her own songs, blending contemporary sounds with traditional Brazilian music.

Her debut album, "Juliana Kehl," released in 2009, showcased her unique style, characterized by a blend of electronic elements and samba, with lyrics often focusing on the multifaceted experiences of women. The album featured collaborations with artists like Dominguinhos and Swami Jr. After a period dedicated to motherhood and personal restructuring following the birth of her twin daughters and a divorce, Kehl returned with her second album, "Lua Full," in 2017. This album marked a shift towards a more organic, pop-oriented sound, moving away from the experimental nature of her debut.

"Lua Full" features collaborations with artists such as Marcelo Jeneci, Thiago Pethit, and Serena Assumpção, and includes reinterpretations of songs by Reginaldo Rossi and Alice Ruiz, Alzira Espíndola, and Estrela Ruiz Leminski. The album delves into themes of female empowerment, identity, and freedom, reflecting Kehl's personal growth and maturity. Juliana Kehl's work is noted for its intelligence, creativity, and a sophisticated fusion of traditional and contemporary Brazilian musical elements, earning her recognition as a significant voice in contemporary Brazilian music.
