Biography

Juliana Linhares is a Brazilian singer, songwriter, actress, and theatre director born in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte. She initially pursued architecture before shifting her focus to the performing arts, moving to Rio de Janeiro to study theatre at UniRio. Blending her theatrical background with musical performance, she gained national prominence as the lead vocalist of the band Pietá, with which she released albums exploring Brazilian popular poetry and regional traditions.

In 2021, she launched her solo career with the critically acclaimed album Nordeste ficção, produced with artistic direction by Marcus Preto. The project explored regional identity, territoriality, and cultural representation, drawing inspiration from the literature of Durval Muniz de Albuquerque Júnior. The album featured collaborations with prominent Brazilian artists and yielded tracks featured in telenovela soundtracks, establishing her distinctive voice in contemporary Brazilian music.

Following her solo debut, she continued expanding her artistic boundaries with her second solo album, Até cansar o cansaço, which addressed themes of contemporary exhaustion and affection with guest appearances by artists like Ney Matogrosso and Anastácia. Alongside her musical pursuits, she has maintained a vibrant career in theatre, including starring in a revival of the musical As centenárias alongside Laila Garin. Linhares continues to bridge the worlds of music and theatre, cementing her status as a vital creative force in the modern Brazilian scene.
