Biography

Julião Pinheiro is a Brazilian guitarist and composer, born in Rio de Janeiro on October 8, 1987. He comes from a prominent musical family, being the son of the renowned poet and composer Paulo César Pinheiro and the cavaquinho player Luciana Rabello. His musical journey began with guitar lessons from Professor João Lyra at the Escola Portátil de Música, an institution founded by his mother. He also studied with Maurício Carrilho and Paulo Aragão at the same school. His uncle was the celebrated seven-string guitarist Raphael Rabello, and his aunt is also Ana Rabello, a cavaquinho player.

Pinheiro's career gained momentum as a member of the choro group Regional Carioca, which he co-founded in 2002 with his sister Ana Rabello and other musicians. The group released two albums, "Regional Carioca vol. 1" (2006) and "Regional Carioca vol. 2" (2010), both on the Acari Records label. He has collaborated with numerous esteemed Brazilian musicians, including Joel do Bandolim, Eduardo Gudin, Cristóvão Bastos, Pedro Amorim, and Maria Bethânia, with whom he participated in her album "Encanteria."

In 2016, Julião Pinheiro released his debut solo album, "Pulsação," on Acari Records. The album features 15 tracks, mostly sambas, composed in partnership with his father, Paulo César Pinheiro. His mother, Luciana Rabello, contributed as executive producer and played cavaquinho on several tracks, while his sister Ana Rabello also played cavaquinho on two songs. "Pulsação" was critically acclaimed and showcased Pinheiro's talent as a composer and performer, solidifying his place as a significant artist in the contemporary Brazilian choro and samba scene.
